Photographer – printmaker
Nigel Grist is a biologist by training and interested in natural history and landscape in the broadest (and sometimes quirky) sense. His photography ranges from macro images of flora and fauna to wider views, especially of Dartmoor and the coast. Images may be simple records of a scene or more abstract and processed. He works in both monochrome and colour depending upon the image and prints his own work trying to capture detail.
More recently he started exploring some of the various forms of printmaking with his photographs including drypoint, lino-cut and collagraph. The images are used as a source of ideas or incorporated into the prints.
